How KVA to Amps UK Works
To convert kVA to amps in the UK, select the supply type (single-phase 230 V or three-phase 400 V) and enter the apparent power in kVA. The calculator returns the current in amperes.

UK single-phase supplies run at 230 V (nominal). UK three-phase supplies run at 400 V line-to-line. These are the standard voltages defined by BS 7671 wiring regulations.

Read the current in amps

UK nominal voltages are 230 V (single-phase) and 400 V (three-phase), per BS EN 50160. Actual supply voltage ranges from 216.2 V to 253 V for single-phase.
KVA to Amps UK Formula
Two formulas convert kVA to amps for UK electrical supplies, based on the phase configuration.
UK single-phase · 230 V
Multiply the kVA value by 1,000, then divide by 230.
UK three-phase · 400 V
Multiply the kVA value by 1,000, then divide by 1.732 × 400 (692.8).
